Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker with eight years of clinical experience. I earned my BA from Bard College in German, and returned for my Master’s in Social Work at the University of Iowa. I work with adults, adolescents, couples, families (including blended or unconventional family structures) and groups. My goal as a therapist is to provide you with a safe, caring and healing relationship, and empower you to become your best self.
I approach all mental health and behavioral change goals as a collaborative effort to understand the cause and function of emotions and behavior, and help my clients move toward positive change. I try to look at the whole picture of mental and behavioral health through a transpersonal lens, and incorporate the most up to date evidence based practices and theoretical framing in my treatment approach. My hope is to establish a relationship with my clients that facilitates and offers growth, learning, compassion and honesty.
I have substantial experience working with clients who have acute and chronic mental health concerns. My main areas of focus have been substance use disorders & process addictions, dual-diagnosis, trauma and PTSD, across a variety of therapy settings. I am trained and experienced in the treatment of complex trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder using both EMDR therapy and Prolonged Exposure therapy. I am also qualified and experienced in diagnosing and treating Obsessive-compulsive disorder using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I provide psychotherapy to treat anxiety disorders, ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, grief and crisis, and incorporate psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, Harm Reduction, dialectical- behavioral (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) strategies into therapy.
