Offering counseling services and working with individuals of various backgrounds who have been through or are going through adverse life experiences is something that I value greatly. My personal approach when working with folks is one of collaboration; though I am an expert in the therapeutic process, the people that I work with are the experts when it comes to their lives and experiences. I seek to provide a safe, healing space where individuals can feel comfortable expressing themselves and offering support to them in a non-judgmental manner using a variety of different strategies.
I have around five years of experience in the mental health field which began during my master’s program in clinical/community mental health at Western Illinois University, where I worked with some folks at Western’s psychology clinic while also attending to my studies. I completed my internship with Sinnissippi Centers, Inc. and worked there full-time in several roles, including counselor, partner abuse intervention and prevention specialist, and manager for a supervised living mental health program. I have worked with people of all ages, ranging from seven to 72 years of age. I employ a variety of strategies when working with my clients that best suit their needs.
